10 digital activities to help your preschoolers get ready for kindergarten.
Most of these kindergarten readiness activities are brief and focus on a particular skill used in the first weeks of kindergarten. Printables, games, and just playing with preschoolers would be a good way to practice these skills too, especially the ones that aren’t listed here, like fine and gross motor movement.
These activities can be done independently. There are audio directions and immediate feedback. The preschooler can’t fail. If they select incorrect answers, additional tries will be given until they get it correct.
Naming colors
Preschoolers should know common colors like red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, black, brown, gray and white.
Counting out loud to 10
This activity practice counting various objects up to ten out loud.
Counting objects
This activity builds on the previous activity of counting out loud by adding one-to-one correspondence where the child has to move objects to a destination while counting.
Creating groups
This activity students sort objects by attributes like size, color, type and shape.
Naming shapes
This activity students learn and identify common shapes, which include: circle, square, triangle, oval, rectangle, rhombus, heart and star.
Comparing objects
This activity encourages students to use comparative words like taller, heavier, safer, longer, faster, more/less, lighter and shorter.
Rhyming words
This activity students learning what rhyming is and practice identifying words that rhyme. They include rock/sock, house/mouse, fox/box, tree/bee, wig/pig, log/frog, cake/snake and more.
Beginning sounds
This activity student learn what a beginning sound is and practice identifying the beginning sounds in words.
Learning letters
This activity is the longest as it quizzes on every alphabet letter. Students will practice learning letters and their sounds.
Counting syllables
This activity students will learn what syllables are, practice hearing and counting them.
