Worksheets on Letter B and More
Before we jump into worksheets for the letter B, here are some tips and ideas on introducing the letter and teaching it.
Letter B activities Preschool
One of the first activities we share with our preschoolers when learning the letter B, is reading “The Letter Bb” book.
The second page of the book is interactive. It asks the students, “What sound does the letter B make?” and then, follows with “What words begin with the Bb?”. If you laminate the book you can write their responses with dry-erase marker and then clean the page afterwards. Make sure you include names of students in your class that have the letter B in their name.
Also, remind the students that this is a special book and can only be written in with your help.
The rest of the book has simple predictable text and real images that students can connect with. Sometimes clipart is too abstract for my special needs kiddos.
After we’ve read the book, I’ll place it in the reading area for the kids to read by themselves, if they choose during their free choice time.
Letter B Printables
Once my kids have been introduced to the letter b I will usually pick a few printables they can use during small group time. Printables are a good way to get kids engaged with learning the alphabet letters, before actually writing the letters.
One printable I like uses dot markers, but I don’t always use dot markers. For example, manipulatives and counters work great too, like these buttons. Just be mindful that they are a choke hazard and shouldn’t be used by children under three or unsupervised.
In this printable students have to cover every uppercase B and lowercase B they see. The end result actually reveals a “Bb”, making it an easy check to see if they got all the letters correctly.
Now that I’ve shown you a few examples of ways to introduce the letter B, I’ll show you some examples of things I do to work on writing.
Letter B Tracing Sheet
This fun worksheet I use ends with a simple maze the students enjoy completing. If this tracing worksheet is too advanced you can still use the maze but cutting the top and replacing it with simpler sheet.
This is just a few letter B worksheets and ideas I use in my classroom. If you’re interested in any of the printables above or are looking for a resource that meets the needs of multiple students, consider buying this resource.
